About

The Scottish Council of Law Reporting, a “not for profit” charitable company limited by guarantee, was established by the Scottish legal profession to manage publication of Session Cases and other materials intended to help promote the best practice of Scots law.

The Council’s membership includes representatives of the Scottish judiciary, Scottish advocates and Scottish solicitors.

The Council has an objective of making its publications available to the widest audience at as economic a price as possible. As a non-profit making organisation it only seeks to recoup the costs of creating and publishing its publications. The Council looks for ways of improving its law reporting services and extending its online case archive back in time. Any reserves that it may accumulate will be applied to these objectives and in response to demand for new services from the legal profession that the Council serves.

Day to day management of The Scottish Council of Law Reporting is in the hands of a Board of Trustees. The Chair of the Trustees is Christine McLintock, a solicitor, while the Vice Chair is Barry Smith KC.

The Scottish Council of Law Reporting is a company registered in Scotland (No. 32729) and limited by guarantee. The Company is a Charity (SCO17485).
